“Feeling depressed and being depressed are completely different things. When you are depressed, you don’t feel anything. You are numb and the things that used to spark joy bring nothing. The only thing that brings satisfaction is lying there, empty. A massive void that is impossible to fill. People say cheer up or we’re all a bit depressed sometimes. They don’t have a clue. They don’t know the daily struggle of pushing through life, trying to act normal when all you want to do is lie there. Your room gets messy. You’re not being lazy. You just can’t get yourself to tidy. You cant make yourself do anything. The constant nagging doesn’t help because its only what you are doing in your own head day and night. You want to do all these things but they seem impossible. Sometimes its easier to joke about it. Making out like its not a big deal. But its dangerous. It eats you up alive until there's nothing left.

So next time you go to say we’re all a bit depressed sometimes, think first, because the chances are, you have no idea.”
